Cuong Phung Takes the Chip Lead

Event 3: $500 + $60 No Limit

And then there were twelve.

And then there were eleven.

Charles Maltzman was all in preflop with 7-7, but he ran into Cuong Phung's 9-9. The board came A-10-3-6-6, and the pocket nines held up for Phung to win the pot. Maltzman was eliminated in 13th place, while Phung's stack of 585k moves him into the chip lead.

At the other table, a hand between Roland Israelashvili and John Cleaver extended into the break. After a flop of A 7 5, Israelashvili bet 60,000 from the big blind, and Cleaver moved all in from the button for about 330k.

Israelashvili tanked for a while, and finally asked, "Will you show?" Cleaver nodded, and Israelashvili flashed an ace and folded. Cleaver turned over A K for top pair, top kicker. Israelashvili said, "I had ace-king too." Cleaver laughed and said, "I think you would've snap-called me." Israelashvili came clean and said, "Well, I could've sucked out." After the hand, Cleaver was up to 450k, and Israelashvili was down to about 170k.

When the break ended, the blinds increase to 8k/16k with a 2k ante. In the first few minutes of action, Roland Israelashvili was eliminated in 12th place.

As soon as one more player is eliminated, the final 10 will combine to a single table and continue playing down to a winner.

13th: Charles Maltzman (West Orange, NJ) - $1,809
12th: Roland Israelashvili (Forest Hills, NY) - $2,352
