Deep Stacks, Short Handed

Event 16: $1,000 + $90 6-Hand Max NL

One of the more popular events is playing short handed, with no more than 6 at a table. In the early stages, tables can drop to only 4 players at a time, but until everyone settles in, things are shorter than that.

"Deal to all stacks," is the edict from tournament director Tab Duchteau, as the tournament is underway.

At his table Matt Matros (Bronxville, NY), raises the only other player, who folds to give Matros the blinds and an extra 75 chips for his 15k starting stack. Nearby Ted Geier (Sunnyside, NY) is a one man band for the first hand until Mike Dentale (Brooklyn, NY) arrives to watch him scoop the 75 chip pot.

One person yells, "chip leader," as the first hand is in the books.

Blinds start at 25/50 and levels are 40 minutes long.
