Event 1 Day 1 Recap

$350 + $50 NL Deep Stack

The Borgata Poker Open is underway with 964 players hitting the tables for the first of 21 Events over the next 16 days.

The field featured notables pros Steve Dannenmann (Baltimore, MD), Josh Brikis (Pittsburgh, PA) and Jason Young (Suffern, NY), but only Dannenmann made it through to Day 2.

Dannemann and the rest of the field are chasing Odette Tremblay (Quebec, Canada) who finished Day 1 with 932k. Tremblay used a balance of good play and good fortunate to knock out three players during the last level. All three times she held an ace to take large pots.

Josh Brikis, who finished 55th in the 2010 WSOP Main Event and former bracelet winner Jason Young were both knocked out before Level 7.

The total buy-in of $337,400 has the field battling for the top prize of $73,638. The top 90 players cash in the event and the 110 remaining players return with an average stack of 219k.

Play resumes Noon Thursday as the players vie for the first Championship of the series.

Event 2 gets the day started at 11 am with a $200 + $30 Deep Stack Turbo NL Tournament
