Event 4 Recap

Event 4: $350 + $50 PLO

91 players turned out at noon Friday for the $350 + 50 Pot Limit Omaha tournament. Total buy-ins for the event came to $31,850 and only the final nine players would get a piece.

Among the players willing to brave the Omaha frontier was WPT final-tableist Soheil Shamseddin (Houston, TX). Soheil finished 15th in the $200 Deep Stack Turbo No Limit Hold'em event the day before, but he did not last long today.

Anthony Caruso (Medford, NJ) won the $700 No Limit Hold'em 6-max event here at Borgata during the Summer Poker Open ($16k) and went deep today. He was the chip leader for quite a while, but ended up running pocket Kings into pocket Aces. He finished 5th for $2,168.

Hamdy Abdalla (Waterbury, CT) was chip leader very early in the tournament, but slid into the middle of the field. He committed the last of his chips with pocket Aces and ended up in a three-way all in with Jim Weaver (Pittsburgh, PA) who also had pocket Aces, and big stack Matt Delano (Mt. Laurel, NJ). Matt had pocket Jacks suited in diamonds and made a diamond flush to bust two players at once. Hamdy finished 4th ($2,780) and Jim finished 3rd ($3,707).

Matt Delano had nearly 90% of all the chips at the start of heads-up play against Daniel Wasserberg (New York, NY). It only took a few hands and it was all over. Daniel earned $5,870 for second place. Matt took home $10,813 and the beautiful Borgata trophy.

Matt is only 25 years old and a single guy. He works as a chef in an Italian restaurant and plays poker recreationally here in Atlantic City. Omaha is his favorite game, obviously.
